MEHD’s Health Improvement Initiative, where we address the pressing health challenges faced by communities across Pakistan. As a developing nation, Pakistan grapples with numerous health issues, contributing to its ranking of 122nd out of 190 countries in the World Health Organization’s performance report.
According to recent studies, Pakistan ranks 154th out of 195 countries in terms of healthcare quality and accessibility, highlighting the urgent need for intervention. Factors such as limited access to basic healthcare services, inadequate infrastructure and personnel, low literacy rates, gender disparities, and insufficient water and sanitation facilities exacerbate the poor state of health in the country.
At MEHD, we recognize the importance of community involvement in improving healthcare outcomes. Through collaborative efforts, we aim to empower communities to take charge of their health and well-being, particularly in remote areas where access to healthcare is limited.
Our initiatives target vulnerable segments of society, including adolescents, to raise awareness about health issues and promote preventive healthcare practices. By increasing access to quality and timely healthcare services, especially in remote and economically challenged communities, MEHD strives to bridge the gap in healthcare delivery and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to lead a healthy life.
We are focused to ensure access to healthcare for the most vulnerable people, particularly women and children with the following priorities:
